Fiscal years start in October
FY2026 covers October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026. FY2027 covers October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027. The “2027” label therefore applies to some dates in calendar year 2026.
Our directory names the edition explicitly. A new publication does not retrospectively change which rate applies to a September overnight stay.
Work through the boundary
For a standard-rate trip departing September 30, 2026 and returning October 2, there are two nights: September 30 at $110 and October 1 at $113. The room ceiling totals $223. With no meal deductions, the meal amounts are $51, $68 and $51, totaling $170. The combined planning ceiling is $393.
The calculator uses the date of each overnight stay, adds no lodging night on the return date, and labels the result with both fiscal years. In these two source editions the standard M&IE rate is unchanged.
An absent record is not a zero
A locality may change name, coverage or listing status between editions. If a selected destination lacks a rate for any date, the calculator stops and explains the gap. It does not insert zero or assume that the standard rate now applies.
Check the changes page and the new edition’s locality definitions before entering a different destination. Dates outside the included period are also rejected instead of being calculated with the nearest known year.
